Free Printable NAPLAN Worksheets (Years 3, 5, 7 & 9) with Answers

Some children work better on paper. There is no screen to distract them, they can show their working in the margin, and it matches the way they will sit the real test. These worksheets are free to print, and each one comes with an answer key so you can mark it at the kitchen table.

How to use them well

A worksheet is worth far more than the twenty minutes it takes to complete if you do two things afterwards.

Mark it together, not for them. Sit with the answer key and ask your child to explain how they got each one — including the ones they got right. A correct answer reached by guessing is worth knowing about, and it shows up immediately when they try to explain it.

Keep the ones they got wrong. Two weeks later, hand back only those questions. Anything they still cannot do is a genuine gap rather than a careless slip, and that short list is the most valuable page of practice you own.

Printed practice versus practising online

Paper is better for working under exam conditions and for handwriting. It has one real disadvantage worth being honest about: nothing is recorded. You mark it yourself, and the result does not become part of any progress record, so patterns across weeks are easy to miss.

Practising online marks the work instantly, keeps a history you can look back over, and puts an explanation or an AI tutor next to the question the moment your child gets stuck. Most families we hear from use both: online during the week, a printed sheet at the weekend or in the car.

Common questions

Are these worksheets really free?

The sample worksheets are free and need no account — six of them, ten questions each, with the answer key. A free account adds one custom worksheet a month on any topic you choose; Premium allows two a day.

Do the worksheets include answers?

Yes. Every worksheet prints the answer key on its own final page, with a short worked explanation for each question, so you can hand over just the questions and mark it afterwards.

What format are they in?

They print straight from your browser, so you can send them to a printer or save as PDF using your browser's print dialog. There is nothing to install.

Which years are covered?

NAPLAN Years 3, 5, 7 and 9, plus the NSW OC test (sat in Year 4) and the Selective High School test (sat in Year 6).

Is a printed worksheet as useful as practising online?

For handwriting and working under exam conditions on paper, printed sheets are excellent. Online practice does two things paper cannot: it marks the work instantly and feeds the results into a progress history, and it puts an AI tutor next to any question your child gets stuck on. Most families use both.

Custom worksheets

The samples are fixed, so everyone prints the same ten questions. If you want a sheet on one specific topic — long division, area and perimeter, probability — a free account lets you build one a month on any exam, year, subject and topic, and Premium allows two a day with 25 questions each. Every custom sheet is drawn fresh from the question bank, so no two are the same.
